German Auto Solutions has just released our GAS Performance solid ball joint monoball suspension upgrade kits for the for the F80 Series M2, M3 and M4 BMWs.
Our kit replaces the stock rubber bushings in the front control arms with sealed, solid ball joints. By installing our monoball suspension kit you will receive a significant handling improvement via more precise steering control and improved steering feedback. Monoballs also ensure that toe and camber settings are retained under high cornering loads which would otherwise cause the stock rubber bushings to deflect.
This performance suspension upgrade consists of new BMW sealed "M-Car" solid ball joints, CNC machined anodized aluminum ball joint carrier housings, stainless steel mounting collars and stainless fasteners. Like all G.A.S. products, our monoball kit components are CNC machined by us here in the U.S.A. to exacting tolerances. We believe that you will not find a higher quality monoball kit anywhere else at any price!
The kit includes two Monoball ball joint assemblies with the stainless steel bushings already pressed in, two tubes of Loctite sleeve locking compound, Loctite primer/activator, and Scotch-Brite pad for cleaning of control arm bore.
Before the G.A.S. monoball kit was released the two reasons BMW owners most often gave for not purchasing a monoball kit were the high price (as much as $750.00) and the need to fully remove the control arms from the vehicle to have the factory rubber bushings pressed out. G.A.S. has addressed the first issue by cutting the price to almost 1/3 the price of some competing monoball kits and the second issue by designing and manufacturing a custom tool specifically to remove the OEM bushing while the control arms are still on the vehicle. (See "BUSHING REMOVAL TOOL" tab above) We offer this tool as a rental for a $29.00 fee plus a refundable security deposit and it can ship out with your Monoball purchase. This unique tool is only available from German Auto Solutions and can save you considerable time and money.
Our BMW F80 Monoball Upgrade is also available pre-installed into new OEM BMW control arms. Link to "Pre-installed Version".

2020 M2C - Saturday, August 10, 2024I did a lot of research and talked to a number of BMW suspension gurus before purchasing the GAS monoballs. I was looking at adjustable models but decided they weren’t needed for my purposes of mostly street and mountain roads. I ordered the rental press tool at the same time and it made the install super easy. Definitely the best press tool I’ve ever used and the bushing slid out like butter. If you have the tools and ability to remove the arms from your car, you can install the bearings. I had an issue with the ball joint on one arm and had to order a new arm and then swap the Monoball into it. If it wasn’t for that, it would’ve been a four job max. And that was at a leisurely pace. I like that they supply the loctite and the sanding material. Once installed the feel of the car is noticeably better. The weather has been bad so I haven’t been able to push things too hard but it feels fantastic. I’m very impressed with GAS quality. I worked in aviation for 20 years and know good machine work. Theirs is some of the best I’ve seen. Super high quality product. Well designed press tool with a convenient rental option. All at great prices. Two thumbs up from me. Wish they made more products for the F chassis M2/3/4.
One more thing. Customer support is great. I called to ask some question about using the tool to push the bearing back out once I found the ball joint damage. Owner answered the phone and was super helpful. Thanks again!
And another thing…in the video he’s going to say you need to let the arm cool down before test fitting the bearing. This is legit. The sanding introduces enough heat into the aluminum that it increases the clearance and the bearing drops right in. I thought the arm felt cool enough after 30 seconds, dropped the bearing in, got distracted by my kid, and found the bearing stuck. Had to get out a heat gun to free it up. Listen to the man he knows what he’s saying. -
Performance handling upgrade 2015 F83 M4 - Thursday, March 21, 2024Justin Moore
I’ve been in the process of upgrading the suspension on my BMW for a couple months. Along the way, upgrading a part has shown the weakness of other parts. Well the front bushings have shown their weakness and the oil has escaped. BMW says it’s a lifetime bushing. The definition of lifetime in this case is only four years. So my market search began.
While I found multiple mono balls on the market. After viewing installation instructions they proved to be higher priced and inferior in design.
While I have not yet installed this set of mono balls. I’m sure there will be an increase in NVH but, you will get that with any set. The GAS mono ball being the cheaper and far more superior product in design and craftsmanship. That NVH will be lower provided the installation is done correctly.
Cheaper, superior and American made it’s a no brainer. They even send a latex glove for the installation. Who does that these days?
