The Goal:
When we design any of our tool sets, we start out by purchasing the OEM BMW factory tools, we analyze them, and then we set out to produce a tool set that does not compromise OEM quality or accuracy, is less expensive to manufacture and easier to use. We almost never copy the factory tools (or anyone’s tools), we take a fresh look at the function required and usually come up with a better, easier and more accurate way of doing things.
If you have ever used the factory BMW M52tu-M54 VANOS tools you will really appreciate our redesign. Better quality, greater accuracy, easier to use, and way less expensive to own, what more could you possibly ask for? For those you can’t justify the purchase of a complete tool set because they only plan to use it once, you will be pleased to know that all of our Master Tool Kits are available on a rental basis.
The Cam Locking Blocks:
- Precision CNC Machined from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum alloy to OEM tolerances.
- Anodized to protect finish and reduce wear.
- Intake and Exhaust blocks firmly bolt together, others just use a flimsy top strap.
- Intake and Exhaust block identification markings are CNC engraved.
- Includes a hold down clamp, most other kits do not.
The VANOS Timing Fixture:
- Precision CNC Machined from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum alloy to OEM tolerances.
- Anodized to protect finish and reduce wear. The OEM BMW tool is not!
- Includes hardened tool steel alignment bushings. Same as OEM BMW tool.
- Includes hardened tool steel inserts at VANOS contact points. Same as OEM BMW tool.
- Includes holes and screws at VANOS contact points to lock in alignment. No one else does.
- Our entire tool kit costs $80.00 less than the OEM BMW alignment plate alone!
The Cam Chain Tensioner Tool:
- Precision CNC Machined from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum alloy to OEM tolerances.
- Anodized to protect finish and reduce wear.
- Includes thumbscrew tension bolt with machined tip, not just a piece of threaded rod.
- Thumbscrew is black oxide coated to prevent rust.
The factory BMW cam sprocket alignment tool is much more complicated, and expensive to manufacture, than it needs to be. Our solution to keep the cost down, is a heavy duty laminated alignment sheet. This alignment sheet is very easy to use, and just as accurate, as the expensive factory tool. We pass the savings on to you.
The TDC Locking Pin:
Our TDC locking Pin is CNC machined from 303 stainless steel so it will never rust or corrode. It is also sized and shaped to work on all BMW models and the Land Rover as well. We even install a 90 degree pin to make the tool much easier to install and remove.
The Secondary Tensioner Clip:
It’s a clip, it performs its purpose well, we include it, what else can we say.

We are sorry but due to the typical “one time use” requirement of specialty tool kits for most people, we do not accept returns of these tool kits for refunds. Specialty tools kit can be returned for exchange only due to manufacturing defects.

Needed to reset the timing on my 2004 bmw e60 M54 and this tool got the job done with ease not to mention the tool is made of very great and precise quality and that’s hard to say about most things you buy now a days that’s just made in china and shipped here to the states , very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this product.
